New NSRF Action 2021-2027 for Existing Businesses
A new action of the NSRF 2021-2027, specifically tailored to the needs of existing businesses, is set to open for applications by the end of 2024. Its budget is expected to reach up to 400 million euros, offering unique growth and modernization opportunities for businesses.
- Goals and Characteristics
The aim is to pre-publish the relevant call in September 2024, which will include the beneficiaries, the terms and conditions of participation, as well as the eligible costs. This will allow the action to start within the year. For now, the process is at an early stage.
- The action aims to boost investments with an emphasis on digital and green technologies, strengthening small and medium-sized enterprises. The funding will be horizontal, providing access to businesses from various sectors of the economy, such as retail and tourism.
- BudgetThe budget of the action will range from 300 to 400 million euros. The final amount will depend on the unallocated funds from other NSRF actions, such as “Supporting the establishment and operation of new small and medium-sized enterprises” and “Supporting the establishment and operation of new tourism small and medium-sized enterprises”, which have already attracted over 10,000 applications. The evaluation of these applications is expected to be completed by the end of October 2024, which will determine the exact allocation of resources.

- Existing Actions
The new action does not affect the budget of the “Green Transition SMEs” action, which has already approved 6,411 proposals for a total public expenditure of 656.96 million euros.
- Application Progress
Applications are ongoing for the €300 million “Research – Innovate 2021-2027” action. It is aimed at businesses and research organizations, focusing on research and innovation projects. Applications are being submitted for interventions such as Business-Led Research and Development, Business-Research Organization Partnerships, Exploitation of Research Results and the Seal of Excellence.
The closing dates for submitting applications are:
• Intervention I: Wednesday 10.07.2024, time 15:00
• Intervention II: Wednesday 17.07.2024, time 15:00
• Interventions III and IV: Until the available budget is exhausted or at the latest by Wednesday 27.11.2024, 15:00
